Flight Ordinance Office

(Click on Picture to Bring Up Full Image)

The Flight Ordnance Office aboard the USS Midway managed all aspects of aircraft ordnance operations. This included inventory control, storage, and distribution of munitions such as bombs, missiles, and ammunition. The office coordinated with squadrons to plan and supervise weapons loading, ensuring aircraft received the correct ordnance for each mission.

Additionally, the office supported mission planning by recommending loadouts, maintained strict compliance with Navy explosives safety protocols, and served as a liaison between the ship's Weapons Department, Aviation Ordnancemen (AO), and air wing personnel. Its role was critical to the safe, efficient arming of aircraft for both combat and training operations.
