Calgary to Vancouver Trip Photos
June 2025

Two years before this trip, we thoroughly enjoyed a vacation that included travelling on the Rocky Mountaineer (RM) from Denver to Moab. So, we thought that taking the train through the Canadian Rockies and adding some time to tour other spectacular Canadian scenery could be even better. While the train ride itself is a two-day event, RM offers a number of before and after add-ons to expand the vacation itinerary.  We chose the following itinerary:

  1. Fly into Calgary and spend the next day touring the city on our own.

  2. Guided bus tour from Calgary to Banff, and another free day in Banff

  3. Another (shorter) bus tour from Banff to Lake Louise, and a third self-guided free day.

  4. Part one of the main event: ride the Rocky Mountaineer from Lake Louise to Kamloops

  5. Part two: Ride the train from Kamloops to Vancouver. This ends the RM portion of the trip

  6. Spent 2-3 days visiting various Vancouver attractions.

We splurged and upgraded to the Rocky Mountaineer's Gold Leaf service, which we thought was worth the extra expense.  The whole itinerary was managed by RM, except for free days during the trip and our travel around Vancouver.

As a way to remember the trip and to record some of what we experienced, six photo-blog pages were created. On those pages, I try to provide a short description of the events, and then som of the better photos taken that day. The pictures below link to these pages, which happen to correspond to the numbered list above.
