Photos of the Finished Theater

This page contains several photos of the "completed" DIY Home Theater room. The quotes around the word 'completed' are there because it seems that the room will never be fully complete, as I am still making updates to the room, although these are mostly minor changes. For example, ongoing adjustments to the acoustic panels and speaker placement are being made to enhance audio performance.

View of DIY Theater Screen

This photograph is taken from the back of the room near the doorway. This DIY home theater features an exposed wood faux ceiling beam and dark acoustic panels on the walls for sound treatment. The room features a large projection screen that showcases the NVIDIA streaming interface. Seating comprises black leather recliners organized in two rows, with the rear set elevated for enhanced viewing angles. The space is illuminated by recessed ceiling lights that provide ambient lighting.

View from the Back Corner

From this angle, the image of the home theater showcases several surround sound speakers positioned throughout the room. The front left and right speakers are displayed on stands on either side of the screen, along with a center channel speaker on a stand beneath the screen, beside one of the two subwoofers located to the right of the center speaker. Two speakers are placed on the side walls between the acoustic panels, and two Atmos speakers are integrated into the faux wood ceiling beam. The ceiling-mounted projector is noticeable at the very top of the photo. The rear surround and ATMOS speakers are not depicted in the photo.

Side View of the Seating Area

This photo is a side view of the seating area, taken from the right side of the theater, which shows another angle of the two rows of seating and provides a view of some of the wood trim added to the room.

Left Side & Media Cabinet

This close-up view of the home theater's back left corner showcases the speaker placement and functional elements of the space. Large black acoustic panels are strategically positioned around the room. The black leather recliners feature built-in cup holders in front of the media library cabinet stocked with Blu-rays. The warm orange sconce accent lighting over the wood column creates a soft, ambient glow. The combination of dark acoustic panels with wood trim maintains the sophisticated theater aesthetic on the gray walls, creating a subtle and atmospheric theater space.

Riser Close Up

Except for the fact that the rise is not quite tall enough (needed to be 2-3 inches taller) the dark oak wood trim and the inset for the rope lights gives the riser a nicely finished look that is a little more elgant than a purely carpet covered riser.

Wide Angle from Front

This wide-angle shot from the front of the theater offers a clear view of the two rows of seating, the surround and ceiling speakers, and the acoustic panels mounted on the side and back walls. Additionally, the mounted white projector is easily visible on the ceiling at the back of the theater.

Front of Theater with Lights Out

This picture is nother view of the home theater, this time with the lights out, and the bright screen showing GoogleTV's main screen.

Entrance door and Back Aisle

This picture shows the DIY theater's entrance door on the left and the rear entryway aisle at the back of the room. As can be seen, a media cabinet is attached to the wall next to the door, with a stack stand positioned underneath. To the right of the snack tray is the half wall behind the second row of seats. Sitting on the wall are a couple of remote controls; the Harmony Elite is the main one (standing upright), and there is an NVIDIA Shield remote just in case.

Although the aisle occupies some space in the theater, it pushes the second row of seats 3 feet away from the back wall, which improves the acoustics for those seats.

Fifty's Diner and Theater Entrance

This retro-styled entertainment room features a classic 1950s diner aesthetic, characterized by bold red and black checkerboard patterns throughout the space. The room also includes a curved bar counter with chrome bar stools, each topped with red vinyl seats that match the red booth seating along the wall. Neon-style LED strips provide vibrant red accent lighting around the perimeter, creating an authentic vintage atmosphere. The black and white checkered floor tiles complement the checkerboard wainscoting running along the lower portion of the walls. Movie posters adorn the walls, and a vintage-style jukebox enhances the nostalgic ambiance, while the oak door provides access to the adjacent home theater room.

Floor Plan

This picture is a top view of the Theater's floor plan. This floor plan illustrates the key design components incorporated into the design of this theater. This picture illustrates the seating, projector, lighting, and speaker/subwoofer placements. This drawing is also shown on this page, along with a more comprehensive summary.
