Electronic Counter Measures

Personnel in the Electronic Countermeasures (ECM) area aboard the USS Midway conducted operations to detect, analyze, and disrupt enemy electronic emissions. Their activities included monitoring radar and communication signals, identifying potential threats, and deploying countermeasures such as radar jamming, deception techniques, and chaff or electronic decoys. ECM personnel collaborated closely with the Electronic Warfare (EW) team to reduce the ship's electromagnetic signature and protect it from targeting or surveillance by enemy sensors.
