Communication Equipment

(Click on Picture to Bring Up Full Image)

This communications and signal processing equipment room is likely part of the flag-level communications suite since it is located adjacent to the Flag CIC. Visible are multiple rack-mounted systems, typical of late Cold War-era infrastructure. Identifiable components include UHF/VHF/HF radio transceivers, cryptographic units, signal routers, patch panels, and what appears to be a DS2 (Data System 2) display terminal used for digital message handling and secure data communication. The room's purpose is to enable the admiral's staff to maintain independent, secure, multi-channel communication with naval assets.
