Air Conditioning Unit

(Click on Picture to Bring Up Full Image)

The USS Midway had multiple large-scale air conditioning units that controlled the climate in crew quarters, control rooms, work areas, electronics bays, and other compartments. Given the ship's dense configuration and tropical deployment zones, maintaining air temperature and humidity control was critical for both personnel comfort and equipment reliability.

Each unit circulated refrigerant through a network of ducts and coils to regulate the temperatures across various compartments. The machinery was robust and industrial-grade, maintained by the ship's engineering crew, who monitored performance around the clock.
