Passenger Waiting Room
(Click on Picture to Bring Up Full Image)

This photo is of the beautifully restored passenger waiting room in the depot's main building. The depot building itself has been restored to its original condition. When the museum took over the facility, the building had fallen into disrepair. The walls and ceiling were replastered, the walls were stripped entirely, and the oak trim was repaired and refinished. Much of the original furniture remained and was also restored.
The restoration showcases a classic design of early 20th-century train stations, featuring high ceilings, large multi-paned windows, and a distinctive two-tone paint scheme with green wainscoting below white walls. The room features period-appropriate wooden benches for waiting passengers, vintage railroad promotional posters on the walls, antique oak displays to showcase various artifacts used on the train, and a complete set of dinnerware typical of early 1920s dining cars, telling the story of regional railroad history.
