Dining Car Interior

(Click on Picture to Bring Up Full Image)

This is a photo of the interior of a mid-20th-century Northern Pacific dining car. The car features the classic layout of a railroad diner with booth-style seating arrangements on both sides of a central aisle. The booth seating, with individual tables and red and white checkered tablecloths, was a typical configuration for railroad dining cars. The arched ceiling with recessed lighting is typical of passenger cars from the 1940s to the 1960s era. The stainless steel and chrome trim, visible throughout the interior, reflect the Art Deco design influences that were popular in railroad car manufacturing during this period.
