Manufacturer: St. Louis Car Company, St. Louis, Missouri

The Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR) Class B60b baggage car played a key role in improving American passenger train services. Built by various manufacturers including the St. Louis Car Company, these 60-foot steel cars replaced older wooden baggage cars, offering greater durability and safety. They featured a distinctive round roof and came with either paneled wooden doors with rectangular windows or later models with steel doors and porthole windows. Mounted on PRR 2D-P5 trucks, the B60b cars were also crucial for express and mail services. From the late 1930s to early 1950s, about 200 units were converted into express messenger cars, equipped with desks, lockers, lavatories, and safes. A 6-inch gold star above the car number identified these modified cars.
